Questions about
Who is eligible for Better Jobs Ontario?
You may qualify if you have been laid off and have not been working or are working a temporary job just to cover costs, or if you have been unemployed for 12 weeks or longer, are part of a low-income household and need new skills to return to the workforce. You can still apply if you are receiving Employment Insurance (EI), Ontario Works (OW), or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) assistance. An Employment Specialist can help determine if the program is right for you.
What types of training are covered?
Better Jobs Ontario aims to help you rejoin the workforce quickly. The program offers funding for both:
- short-term training programs that take 52 weeks or less to complete, including micro-credential programs
- longer duration programs that take 2 years or less to complete
How long does the process take?
Application timelines vary, but your Employment Specialist will work closely with you to complete the necessary steps and keep you informed throughout the process.
Do I have to pay the money back?
No. Better Jobs Ontario is a grant program, not a loan. You do not have to repay the funding you receive.
