Spark provides Free DEI support to employers in Greater Sudbury, including workplace assessments, an annual conference, and paid placements for Spark clients.

EDGE+ Program: Training for All Abilities

Our EDGE+ Program supports individuals living with any disability through up to 6 weeks of in-class training, preparing them with the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.

As part of the program, participants complete a 12-week paid work placement (25 hours per week) with partnering organizations — giving employers access to motivated, trained candidates while supporting workforce inclusion.

Employer Support & Benefits:

• Reimbursement of the basic minimum wage ($17.20/hour) for up to 25 hours per week per participant
• Guidance and resources on inclusive hiring practices
• Accessibility training for staff and managers
• Reimbursement for necessary workplace accommodations (e.g., ramps, modifications)
• Employers remain responsible for mandatory contributions and deductions (CPP, EI, income tax)

Participant Training Includes:

• Leadership, communication, and workplace readiness skills
• Soft skills development for team collaboration and adaptability
• Certifications such as WHMIS, AODA, Standard First Aid & CPR
• Additional training also available tailored to specific job placements
