Overview
Ethier Sand and Gravel is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Quarry Manager. As the Quarry Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of our quarry facility. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient extraction of materials, meeting production targets, and maintaining a safe working environment. Your leadership and technical expertise will be essential in optimizing productivity, managing resources, and maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including employees, contractors, regulatory authorities, and the sales team.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and coordinate quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, excavation, crushing, loading, and hauling, to meet production targets while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize efficiency and productivity, optimizing resource utilization and reducing costs.
- Monitor and control quarry operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, production schedules, and project specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of operators, and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and surveyors to optimize quarry design, extraction techniques, and resource planning.
- Manage inventory and logistics, coordinating the supply of raw materials and communication with the dispatch team
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and local communities, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare basic budgets, forecasts, and production reports
- Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- 5 years’ experience in crushing, surface mining, or quarry operations.
- Proven experience in quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, extraction, and material processing.
- Surface Miner Common Core required.
- High school diploma is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of quarrying techniques, equipment, and processes.
- Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by operational needs.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to work out of town.
- Ability to adapt to last minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
